General description of the Course and how it would achieve its aim

A Spiritual Approach to Life from a Christian Perspective is an easy to understand guide to using the Bible and Christian Principles to enrich everyday life. The material contains no dogma or theology and has purposely been kept simple. The idea for this resource has arisen as a result of our own personal difficult periods, mainly relating to health, work and relationship issues. When we looked the bookshelves for help we could find nothing appropriate. Our response was to sit quietly and pray for guidance: we were directed to the Bible and in particular to the Sermon on the Mount and to the Ten Commandments. We also found the epistles of Paul helpful. By trusting God, and sending out love to those who were responsible for some of our difficulties we found that our situation turned around with positive outcomes for all involved. Our desire is to share the benefits we received with others.

A Spiritual Approach to Life from a Christian Perspective will achieve its aims by

  • Giving many Bible references (chapter and verse) for participants to find easily.

  • The self questions allow participants to consider his or her own responses and views as they find out what is right for them: we all have to find our own answers.

  • A list of Helpful Hints is included.

  • Although participants are guided to many Bible verses they are encouraged to use a Concordance, Commentary and Bible Dictionary to facilitate further information and understanding.

  • Participants are encouraged to share the benefits they receive eg peace, better health, more satisfying relationships, etc., and this is one way of bringing other people to trust in Jesus.

We believe that there are many people who would like to pursue a more Christian way of life, but who do not know where to start looking for help and guidance. This resource is a starter kit and can be used by individuals or groups with equal ease. As far as we can ascertain there are very few similar books available on the open market that offer such a simple approach using short units to open up the Scriptures and find a true relationship with the Lord.
